  • A new Climate Central report finds that Reno has had at least two additional extremely warm winter days on average since 1970 — a change that may affect water management, crops, and cooling costs.  KUNR
  • A new groundwater tool from the Nature Conservancy, Desert Research Institute and University of Wisconsin-Madison maps areas in Nevada where plants use underground water and helps water managers and land planners spot risks—like drought and development—for local ecosystems. Conservationists say the tool may be used across the Mountain West.  KUNR

  • Former Reno Mayor Jeff Griffin, who led from 1995 to 2002 — steering projects like ReTRAC and Artown — died on Feb. 5. He left a lasting mark on the city's growth through dedicated civic service.  KRNV
