- ➤ Catholic Charities has temporarily closed the downtown food pantry (as it moves to a larger space) and will share reopening details when the move is complete. 2NEWS
- ➤ The City of Reno will open a new dog play area next week that transforms an old garden into a safe space for dogs and their owners near baseball fields off Apollo Way. The project received a $7,500 Placemaking Grant and community partners to help complete the transformation. 2NEWS
- ➤ Living Stones Church is transforming the former downtown movie theater into Reforma, a mixed-use community hub and church that will offer Sunday services, an atrium (opening next month), restaurants, an events center, and a preschool to boost downtown recovery along the riverwalk. KRNV

- ➤ Shoppers at WinCo on 9750 S. Virginia St. have noticed the fresh foods department is closed since Jan. 19 for construction and will remain closed through Feb. 2, though refrigerated items are still available nearby. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Uline will host its first hiring event on Thursday, Jan.29 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at 8800 Military Road to fill warehouse roles for day and night shifts as part of its local expansion — the event follows a 2025 spree that added 1,200 team members and industry awards. 2NEWS

- ➤ Senator Cortez Masto announced a $1,760,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to support a new operational skills certificate at Truckee Meadows Community College.
