  • Francesca’s Reno store at Meadowood Mall confirmed its planned closing amid reports of a nationwide liquidation, while the exact closing date remains pending — no further details have been provided.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • Reno-based manufacturer SendCutSend said it will expand its local operations by opening a new finishing facility for powder coating + anodizing services as demand grows. The company will hire 200 workers for production, logistics and leadership roles, building on a CNC facility that reached capacity last year.  Reno Gazette Journal

  • Officials said six Reno parks were vandalized with graffiti and bathroom damage reported last night (an investigation is underway).  2NEWS

  • The International Society of Explosive Engineers is hosting its 52nd conference at Silver Legacy Resort Casino from Jan 20–25. The event will feature research presentations, training to become a licensed blaster, and an exhibition of new explosive technologies.  2NEWS

  • Drivers traveling along Mount Rose Highway may see smoke this week from a prescribed burn near Reindeer Lodge, visible around 7,000 feet + fire officials advise motorists to remain cautious and not call 911.  2NEWS

  • A Tax Foundation report shows Nevada’s sales tax averaged 8.24%, ranking 13th nationally and third among its bordering states. The 6.85% base rate funds key services—2.60% to schools, 2.25% to local governments, and 2.00% to state operations—while counties add minimal surcharges.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • NV Energy will issue refunds totaling over $63 million plus interest to active customers misclassified since 2002 due to billing errors, as announced in a filing with the Public Utilities Commission. The utility has updated its processes and hired a third-party firm to validate its corrections.  2NEWS
